Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information KardiaSim collects and how it is used. The app has no account or login. We collect limited, anonymous usage statistics and diagnostic data to improve the app and keep it reliable.

This policy is published by AliveCor, Inc. and applies to the KardiaSim application only (iOS and macOS). Other AliveCor websites, apps, and services are governed by the AliveCor Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

KardiaSim uses Google Firebase to collect two kinds of data.

Firebase Analytics collects anonymous, aggregated app usage statistics, such as general feature interaction and session activity. This information is not linked to your name or any account, is not used to identify you, and does not include ECG waveforms, file names, or other health information.

Firebase Crashlytics collects crash and diagnostic data when the app encounters a problem. This may include:

  • Crash reports and stack traces
  • Device model and operating system version
  • App version and basic app state at the time of a crash
  • Diagnostic log messages attached to crash reports to help us investigate issues
  • A device identifier stored on your device so crash reports from the same installation can be grouped together

This identifier is not linked to your name or any account.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any account or login information, because the app has none
  • ECG recordings or other health data that identify you
  • ECG content, file names, or file paths in usage statistics
  • ECG waveforms or Bluetooth simulation data transmitted to AliveCor servers (Bluetooth is used locally on your device for interoperability testing only)
  • Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data

We do not use advertising, and we do not sell or share your information for marketing purposes.

3. How We Use This Information

Anonymous usage statistics help us understand overall app use and how we can improve KardiaSim. Crash and diagnostic data is used only to identify, prioritize, and fix problems so we can improve the stability and reliability of the app. Neither type of data is used to identify individual users or to make medical decisions.

Usage and crash data is processed by Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) on our behalf. Google's handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policies:
